UNITED NATIONS PARTNERS
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) opened its representation in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1995 to assist the country to protect over ten thousand refugees. The majority of those refugees either naturalized in the Republic of Kazakhstan or returned to their countries.
Active in Kazakhstan since 1999, UN Women has worked in partnership with the Government to ensure equality of rights and opportunities for women and girls. The organization’s activities support national development priorities and implementation of Kazakhstan’s international gender equality commitments.
